Subject:Late Super/X pressure oiling
Date:Sun Jan 16 20:22:26 2005
The last year or so of Super/X production featured
pressure
feed oil to the bottom end. Naturally this isn't covered in
he parts book or brochures (that I know of). All I can find
ays "The new oiling system forces a supply of lubricant
under
pressure through the hollow main shaft onto the connecting
rod
bearings...". This sounds to me like oil is pumped into the
utside end of the pinion shaft and a hole on the inside
end of the pinion shaft sprays the big end with oil. Is
this
how it was done? Or was it done in the more traditional of
he oil feeding thru the pinion, thru the flywheel and into
a hollow crank pin and then to the bearings? This would
imply
a changed part for the flywheel and crank pin as well as the

pinion shaft. I understand that the feed to the outside end

of the pinion was done via a modification of the timing
chest
cover (not sure where the pressure feed was picked up from
however). Was the oil pump changed as well? ... Perry
