Thanks for the reply. Yes they are repro bars, although they were made locally. I've had a chance to compare them to a set of original bars and I now see the problem. They extend straight out from the center casting rather than turning up. That will make the difference. Peter ----- ORIGINAL MESSAGE FOLLOWS ----- Are these handlebar tubes reproduction?? Jay Zanetti used to make reproduction tubes for brazing to the original handlebar center. It is possible that this is the case and that person had them turned down too far when he brazed them in. John ----- ORIGINAL MESSAGE FOLLOWS ----- I'm helping a friend assemble a 29 KJ. After mounting the front end, we find that the bars don't clear the gas caps when fully turned to either side. It's as if the front end needs to sit up a little further into the frame, to raise the bars about a half inch. Or the tanks are sitting too high? Have I missed something here? Anyone ever seen this?
