Got it. As per my message above, it got wired in series with the ground terminal with the battery. works fine.

George,
The ammeter DOES NOT CONNECT to the positive side of the
battery!!!

The ammeter is the last thing between the battery - or ground
terminal and the chassis. So, the ammeter should have one
short terminal grounded to the bracket and one long terminal
insulated from the bracket. The battery ground wire connects
to this long terminal.

I'll attach some drawings when I can get them from a pdf into
a jpeg format. I made these drawings of the ammeter
connections from a NOS meter and bracket.

Thanks Rick. Just what I was looking for.

Hi George,
The ammeter has one side going to the positive battery
terminal. The other side is the power to the rest of the
bike.
Polarity matters, it will determine whether the needle moves
left or right when discharging or the opposite when charging.
There is a wiring diagram on the website in the manuals.

Rick

Fooling around getting the electrical system functioning on
this barn-find 1922 Deluxe and have found that the ammeter is
not connected to the rest of the electrical system. No clue
how it was originally connected. Any advice or better yet, a
wiring diagram for this unit?

Thanks,

George
