Last year I bought some new - repro - BSA front fork seal
holders but threads were very poor - made worse by the
chrome plating and there was no way they were going to
screw on the fork legs. The flared end meant I couldn't hold
them in the lathe chuck to use a normal internal thread
chaser so I bought a NOGA internal thread deburring tool.
This is a single point tool so is only any good for cleaning
up existing threads - not cutting new ones. You just hold
the handle and rotate your hand in a circle, pulling the
cutting edge into the thread groove. The tool bit rotates in
the handle and the crank on the tool bit ensures that the
cutting edge is presented at the correct angle all the way
round. Not too easy to explain but very simple to use. The
one tool can be used for all thread diameters and TPI -
provided it fits in the bore of course! This makes it
considerably cheaper than buying taps for what are likely to
be 'used once' jobs! Searched the website you gave, Dennis,
and found the following link for the tool

The NOGA range of deburring tools are a real asset to any
workshop - I can also recommend the standard NOGA deburring
tool and the NOGA countersinking tool
Safe riding - and happy workshopping - Steve

Marty, the cap treads are 1 1/2x20. you need one of these to
hase the threads. Be careful!

My story-I had everthing painted and then realized the gas
cap threads in the tank were munged. What dumb move. I had
to machine the tanks and fab a threaded insert, and do all
this without scratching the paint! It worked out though.

We are entering the final stages of completion of my KL. An
ambitious painter fouled the holes for mounting the battery
box [all three holes], as well as the hole for bolting the
exhaust header under the right front of the frame.
Also, need to chase the threads on the gas caps and tanks.
Does anyone have notes on the correct taps and /or dies for
these? Thanks, Marty
