Subject:need Deluxe piston info "Ricci Chip" and Swain coatings Date:Tue Nov 18 11:36:38 2008
30 years ago I bought a 28 deluxe that ran very well . It had been rebuilt using BSA A10 pistons. The deluxe I am presently rebuilding has original pistons that look ok and seem to fit the bores well although in need of rings. should I just get the skirts coated by Swain and hone to fit or use some other pistons like the BSA? Were Henderson bores originally taper bored like JD Harleys? Is it worthwhile to try to add a "Ricci Chip" to early Deluxe cylinders, originality is not a concern. While speaking of Swain has anyone had valve stems coated by them and care to relate results? I am thinking about this for several of my 1920's open valve bikes. anybody know a source for Deluxe cam bushings?
