Can anybody out there tell me the year and any thing else
about this Excelsior. It belonged to a friends grandfather
but he doesn't know anything about it, thought I might get
some info for him. Thanks for the help Ed

Ed, I'm going to say 1919 for the most obvious feature which is the decal size on the tank. From what I have seen, 1918 was the last year for the big "X" decal. This motorcycle has the small X. If we could see the other side of the bike we would see the biggest difference between a 1918 and a 1919 which is the oil tank that was moved under the seat and into the battery/tool box for 1919. Your friend's grandfather really went all out for options too, front wheel speedo, full electric model with Midco dyno, and dual rack mounted storage boxes. One thing that seems odd, considering the number of options is; this bike doesn't have the trussed fork that was so common on 1919's.Your friend's grandfather had good taste.
