For my KJ 1929 I will use a Linkert M18.
Can anybody suggest the size of the Venturi?
and explain what happend if a bigger or smaller are used.
regards Erik
Erik, That is a very good choice,Is your carb pieced
together or an intact original? I use a 7/8 venturi in my KJ
and it is a faultless carb. The smaller venturi make for more
vacuum at the starting cycle and make for easy starting and
a much smoother idle. The larger venturi allow for more air
at the higher engine rpms which tranlate into higher road
speed, but this is minimal and in my opinion is not worth the
sacrifice in easy starting and smoother running motor. The
reason for the question about the carb history is to be
certain that the low speed needle is long enough and
actually reaches the seat.In a pieced together carb many
times they don,t and a proper idle setting can not be had in
any case. The added idle slot diminishes that nasty dead spot
when the throttle is cracked open suddenly and also makes it
idle better.Another word about your manifold,Keep it short
as this increased vacuum across the added length drops the
manifold temp, particuliarly at ambient temps of 40 degrees
f and will ice up readily at this temp. Good Luck
